The Psychology of Using Postcards




Understanding the psychology behind postcard marketing is the key to success. With post cards, there is only a 20 second window of opportunity to get someone to respond.

The goals is to generate direct, immediate response. The person looking at your post card will give you 20 seconds. The goal of a postcard is to give the reader all they need in the 20 second window to cause them to either go to your website or call you on the phone. If marketing a home business type program, just give the reader your website.

Make sure there is nothing on the card that will take the readers attention away from the core offer or suggestion on the postcard. Graphics can make the reader start glazing causing a distraction from the core message. If marketing a home business, you're purpose is to sell the ideal of making more money and if you can tie it into making money with mailing postcards, that's a strong and unique selling proposition. Make the postcard simple, so the reader can envision themselves actually being able to mail postcards and make money. The easy part is that there is no need to worry about marketing because the already get the picture.

Look at the copy on this card carefully and you can see why it works. It talks about making money, it shows how to do it, and it eliminates the dreaded sales and cold calling.
